Brass players represent
NSYO at Birmingham Conservatioire.
On
Sunday 24th February, young NSYO brass players Sam Desai, Leo Miller and
Todd Miller represented the orchestra at the Birmingham Conservatoire
Brass Open Day. During the day they took part in the many activities on
offer throughout the day, which included:
- a Celebrity Brass
Workshop from the internationally acclaimed trombonist Brett Baker
- the chance to
play with the Junior and Senior Brass Band
-
a coaching session from the expert tutors of the Conservatoire,
- a concert
of contemporary music by the Brass Quintet.
The day concluded
with a spectacular (and rather loud) massed performance of Strauss' "Feierlicher
Einzug", played in the Adrian Boult Hall by every single brass player
at the event!
Sam (aged 12),
who was at the event from start to finish, described the day as "very
interesting, educational and great fun!".
We always welcome
new brass players of a grade 3+ standard, so if you want to join Sam and
the other brass players at NSYO, e-mail us at: members@nsyo.org.uk.
Well done all those who took part!
